Sam Spelsberg
I am a startup founder and angel investor. I aspire to contribute to the world in a meaningful way through the impact of my endeavors and the quality of my ideas. I currently live in San Francisco.
Here are some recent professional highlights:
- I am working on a startup yet to be announced that is focused on improving human health.
- I previously cofounded the company Delphi as CTO. Delphi uses AI to scale human expertise. I left in March 2026, but it is still growing and adding users to its platform. My Delphi is here. I was inspired by this idea because for most people the best expertise is expensive or inaccessible. With AI, we saw an opportunity to bring the best minds to you at scale. Read more here.
- I have invested in companies such as Proximal, MeAgain, Interfere, Lion Bio Therapeutics, and Atlas Network.

Other things that I am passionate about outside of building and investing in companies:
- The nature of consciousness, and visceral practice to understand it. There is so little we can explain in a practical sense, but meditation and psychedelics are tools we've used for thousands of years to experience truths about consciousness firsthand. Waking Up, an app for vipassana ("insight") meditation, has become what I have most recommended to people, ever. Its introductory course can be life-changing. And psychedelics, after strict repression in the '60s, have started gaining momentum in clinical research.
- Asking and answering forbidden questions. I deeply respect people who have the courage to ask difficult questions while facing stigma, outrage or ostracism. It seems that this is the primary way society moves forward.
- Triathlons. One of the most rewarding activities I have engaged in is long-distance endurance racing. I am an aspiring Ironman.
- How things get done. I want to better understand how to deliver results in all aspects of my life.
- Leadership. What makes a good one, how I can become a better one.
- Foreign policy and diplomacy. My family spent a decade of my life living outside the United States in Southeast Asia and the Middle East on behalf of the US Government.
- How the United States can avoid managed decline and preserve its culture. I love this nation and the promise it offers to aspiring people around the world.
On this website you will find things I have written and links to things I care about. I will do my best to keep it up to date.
